We are committed to curating an environment and experience that is fun, inspiring, uplifting, and joyful. As such, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any racism, ableism, fatphobia, transphobia, misogyny, femmephobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, ageism, and homophobia.
We prioritize the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of disabled, D(d)eaf, neurodiverse, and chronically ill communities. As this is our inaugural StaceyFest–as well as a Disability Justice event by/for/of disabled peoples, we acknowledge that imperfections, mistakes, and oversights are inevitable–and invite you to bring your concerns and comments to Rawiyah Tariq via the information booth or staceyfestprogramdirector@gmail.com post-event.
Thank you for helping us look out and care for one another!
Our Community Agreements are as follows:
- We commit to being respectful in our communication
- We commit to engaging or tolerating hate speech or discrimination
- We commit to not engaging in illegal activities
- We commit to not being verbally, physically or sexually violent
- We commit to being no scent at this event
- We will not assist someone unless they specifically ask for it
- We will wear our masks (N95 or better) inside and outside unless there is a pre-existing medical condition that contraindicates usage.
When we learn of behavior that violates our Community Agreements we will act in the following ways:
Repair harm
Possible actions include: outreach and gratitude to impacted community member, invitation to speak directly to us (if that hasn’t happened) — with the understanding that they have every right to say no, transparency around our next steps, offer of specific accommodations we can make for their comfort and enjoyment, ask them for any additional accommodations they might want or actions they might like us to take.
Accountability
Reshare Community Agreements with community member in question, describe the offense as we understand it (without sharing any identifying information that would compromise safety and comfort of the impacted audience member), reiterate our zero tolerance policy
If offense is severe
Issue a warning or bar community member in question from the remainder of the event and/or future events
Please reach out to Rawiyah Tariq via the INFORMATION BOOTH if you encounter any situation or difficulty that requires addressing.
Thank you for helping us take care of us!
